Kat's combination of experience in sustainable energy and material conservation, along with her extensive community and stakeholder engagement experience provide her with a detailed understanding of both environmental and social aspects of sustainability.
Kat has a long history in the RE and EE sector, including teaching and researching in energy policy, renewable energy technologies, energy efficiency for buildings and infrastructure as well as in climate change at Murdoch University. Her consulting experience includes providing advisory services to government, NGO and private sector organisations on feasibility studies and high level resource assessments.
Kat has led technical studies for environmental impact assessment assessments in sustainability, climate change and waste for a number of projects in WA, NSW, Vic and QLD. She has also led response to submissions following public exhibition of EIS documents, including responding to Agency comments for major infrastructure projects in NSW.
She is also a qualified ISO14001 auditor and has applied these skills to Environmental, Sustainability and Heritage Management Systems auditing. She also has experience at transitioning Environmental Management Systems to the ISO14001:2015 standard.
Kat is also a part time Senior Lecturer in Environmental Management and Sustainability at Edith Cowan University in Perth Western Australia. In this role, she teaches across environmental management, sustainability, science communication and diversity in science.
Katrina has an extensive track record in carbon management, with a particular emphasis on the sustainable use of energy in residential, commercial and industrial projects. In addition to these specific projects, she taught, coordinated and undertook research in renewable energy and energy efficiency.
Kat has more than five years experience in Waste Management Plans for construction and operation of infrastructure and commercial/mixed use developments in WA and on the east coast of Australia.
